Emery woke up the next morning to the sun in his face, a warm blanket over his body, and he grinned and stretched, hearing a satisfying pop in his spine.

He sighed, and he laughed a little when a warm, naked body curled up behind him. He could feel Griffin’s erection pressing into the crack of his ass, and he felt warm from head to toe when Griffin kissed and sucked on the lobe of his ear.

“Good morning,” Emery said, trying not to do something as girly as giggle as Griffin tickled him.

“Morning’,” Griffin said, getting back to what he was doing, letting his hands roam. “Feel like a repeat of last night?”

After Emery had been let go by Max, Griffin had taken him back to their shared room, where he proceeded to show how relieved he was to have his mate back with him.

And it had been great.

Emery laughed. “Sure, why not?” he said, and he sighed when Griffin entered him softly.

“You think you can come down to breakfast with me? Or we could grab something and come back up here,” Griffin offered as they dressed.

Emery pulled one of his new sweaters over his head, and he didn’t need to think about it for long. “No, I shouldn’t be avoiding people. I want to go down.”

Emery had made the decision that he was going to attempt to really be part of this pack. The only way to do that was to work at it, to show up and hang out with everyone else whenever they spent time with each other.

Griffin grinned and leaned in to kiss him on the cheek.

Griffin’s kisses always felt warm and good. They always made Emery’s toes curl and made the nerves in his body sizzle. Now was no different, except for one small thing.

A sense of normalcy.
